Former Rangers star Daniel Candeias has sent encouragement to Alfredo Morelos on Instagram ahead of Colombia’s friendly fixture against Chile, which takes place this afternoon.
It’s a big opportunity for the Gers striker, who hasn’t been involved with the national team since a pair of friendlies against Japan and South Korea back in March.
Manager, Carlos Quieroz, temporarily ditched the 23-year-old from his plans presumably due to concerns over his ill-discipline, meaning he missed the Copa America.

However, he’s shown blistering form in front of goal so far this season as well as cleaning up his act. Morelos has 14 goals and just four yellow cards to date, in comparison to 18 cautions and five reds (one rescinded), from last season [Soccerbase].
Those numbers have proven hard to ignore and he’s now primed for action in a double header against Chile and Algeria.
Ahead of Saturday’s first fixture, his friend Candeias passed on well wishes.
Underneath an Instagram photo Morelos posted of himself from training, the Portuguese wrote:
“You are thinner my buffalo! Go on my brother [Translated]”

It’s a classy touch from the former Ibrox winger, who is clearly still monitoring his friend’s progress, despite his own move to Turkey with Genclerbirligi.
It’s been something of a struggle so far for Candeias in the Super Lig but he’ll be hoping to help lift his side out of the relegation spots after the international break.
