Former Rangers midfielder Charlie Adam could be returning to Ibrox soon, as the manager in the opposition dugout.

St Mirren boss Stephen Robinson will not be in charge against Rangers as he is in talks to become the next Aberdeen boss.

The Dons have not had a permanent head coach for the last two months, but have finally decided to make a move for Robinson.

Charlie Adam throws his hat in the ring to become St Mirren head coach

According to the Daily Record, Adam has made his intentions clear regarding taking over the reins at Paisley.

The ex-Gers player has thrown his hat in the ring as he has made his move to become the new St Mirren manager.

Adam has been out of work since he parted ways with Fleetwood Town back in 2024.

He joined the EFL club after they were on a nine-game winless run, but he failed to turn around their fortunes and they got relegated that season.

In the following campaign, he guided the team to just one win in 11 games and was then sacked.

Adam also spent some time at Premier League club Everton as their set-piece coach, but is now keen on returning to management.

Who will be in charge of St Mirren against Rangers?

Even if Adam gets the job, he is not expected to be in charge for the game against Rangers on Sunday.

As Robinson has officially been allowed to speak to Aberdeen, he did not hold training ahead of the Gers clash.

Instead, Craig McLeish and Jamie Langfield conducted first-team training on Wednesday and, barring any last-minute changes, will be in charge this weekend.

Brian Kerr, who is Robinson’s assistant, is expected to move to Pittodrie with him, so he will not be in interim charge for the game.

McLeish has played a major role in the development of young players at St Mirren, and will be given a shot at the first team.

Danny Rohl and Rangers will be delighted at the upheaval at St Mirren and will be hoping to return to winning ways this weekend.
