Former Rangers manager Alex McLeish has heaped praise upon Ryan Kent following his return from injury.

The club received a welcome boost as the young English star came on as a second-half substitute against Brondby following a substantial period on the sidelines.

Although consistency remains a part of his game that needs improving, there is no doubt Rangers missed his ability.

“The substitutes made a great impact, they were very lively,” said McLeish [Football Insider].

“Kent brings that change of pace, a great touch for his assist in the goal, it was a brilliant touch to not just lose one defender, but I think three.

“He slipped a lovely ball through to Hagi.”

It was a stunning piece of movement in order to create enough space to give the ball to the Romanian, and one that the side has sorely lacked since he has been absent.

The former Rangers manager knows all about how to get the best out of left-wingers, having had both Peter Lovenkrands and Neil McCann at his disposal during his five-year spell in charge.

Players of Kent’s quality make such a big difference in terms of individual brilliance, especially if the side is struggling, which they certainly were against the Danes.

With Rangers facing Ross County on Sunday in another important league tie, having almost everyone available will be a welcome boost.
