The Scottish Sun reports that former Rangers hero Gennaro Gattuso is being lined up to replace Simone Inzaghi at Lazio.

The former UEFA Super Cup winners and Serie A side, are currently going through a poor run of form.

Under Inzaghi, they have won just three of their last ten matches, while they lost to Celtic in the Europa League on Thursday.

It’s suggested that the pressure is mounting and that Sunday’s clash against Fiorentina could be crucial for the current boss’s hopes of staying on.

Meanwhile, Gattuso is ‘top of the list’ to replace the former Italy striker, if he is indeed sacked.

It’s said that Lazio’s sporting director Igli Tare is a big fan of the ex-Ibrox man, and will push to appoint him.

Gattuso started his managerial career with Switzerland’s FC Sion in 2013 as a player/coach. He’s since been at five other clubs, most recently taking charge of ailing heavyweights AC Milan from 2017 to 2019, leaving his post in the summer.

If given the role at Lazio, who play their home games in the 70,000 capacity Stadio Olimpico, it would be another huge role for the man who made 34 league appearances for Rangers during the 1997/98 season.

The 41-year-old didn’t win any silverware during his time in Glasgow, but he won over the fans with his combative performances in midfield.

After leaving the club, he went on to win 10 trophies with AC Milan and the 2006 World Cup with Italy.
