Former Rangers forward Andy Dallas has received praise from fellow players, after netting for Cambridge United on Saturday.
The 20-year-old talent made the brave decision to leave Ibrox permanently over the summer, opting to head to England to forge a career there [Glasgow Evening Times].
Across 2018/19, he had struggled to convert form for Rangers Reserves into senior goals for loan side Greenock Morton, and that drought continued over the first few months of this campaign.
Yet, by coming off the bench to score the U’s fourth in a stunning 4-0 win over high-flying Exeter City, he got the monkey off his back in his 25th senior appearance [Soccerbase].
Dallas deserves credit for his perseverance over what must have been a trying period.
After the game, he took to social media to recognise the goal.
“Delighted with this one today,” he wrote on Twitter while quoting Cambridge United’s goal update. “Very well deserved home win for the lads, we go again Tuesday.”
The post received plenty of attention from teammates past and present, with the likes of Rangers youngsters Dapo Mebude and Stephen Kelly, as well as U’s players, praising him for his achievement.
Next up for Dallas and co., is another league clash against Grimsby Town on Tuesday evening.
Having finally broken his duck, the striker will be hoping it’s a case of the drought turning into a flood.
