A former Rangers manager is now locked in advanced negotiations with a team that once won the Premier League.
The Light Blues have hired a number of coaches over the years who have arrived with big reputations but have failed to live up to the billing.
Only a handful of them have then gone on to have blistering careers following their departures from Ibrox in recent years.
How much should Rangers demand for Youssef Chermiti?
He scored 15 goals in his first season at Ibrox…
Russell Martin in advanced talks to join Leicester City
According to Telegraph journalist John Percy, former Rangers manager Russell Martin is in advanced talks to join Leicester City.
The one-time Premier League winners find themselves in the third tier of English football after their relegation from the Championship.
They now have a major rebuild on their hands and believe that Martin is the man to spearhead it and help them climb up the divisions.
Who is the worst-ever Rangers manager? 🤔
We think it cannot be anyone else except Russell Martin!
The 40-year-old has been out of work since Rangers sacked him a few months into his tenure at the start of the 2025/26 season.
It now looks like he is closing in on his next job and would want to right the wrongs from his Ibrox tenure that could not even last half a season.

What did Rangers say when Martin was sacked?
Rangers released a mere 80-word statement to announce that they had parted ways with Martin.
In many ways, it explained just how lacklustre his short tenure at Ibrox was.
The club took to their official website to state that Martin, along with two of his coaches, would be departing.
They did, however, thank them for the work that they did, given they were the first appointments by the new ownership.
The statement read: “Rangers Football Club confirms that it has parted company with Head Coach, Russell Martin.
“While all transition periods require some time, results have not met the club’s expectations.
“Assistant Head Coach, Matt Gill, and First-Team Coach, Mike Williamson, will also be departing.
“Russell and his staff have worked exceptionally hard throughout their time at the club. We thank them for their efforts and wish them well for the future.
“Further updates from the club will follow in due course.”
