Lee McCulloch has praised the form of Steven Davis in his Evening Times column.
The former Rangers skipper played alongside the Davis during his first stint at Ibrox and says his quality was always going to shine through.

At 34, there were doubts as to whether or not the Northern Ireland stalwart was past it. After an uninspiring display against St Johnstone, some fans took to social media to suggest he was no longer good enough.
However, he now looks more like his old self, starting five of the last six games for club and country. Furthermore, he was singled out for praise by his manager after the recent win over Hearts [

McCulloch is on the same page as Gerrard.
“Steven has got a bit of everything and it was good to see him playing so well in the wins over Hearts and Motherwell last week”, he wrote in the Evening Times.
“I am delighted for him because he did have his critics earlier in the season when he was perhaps a yard off it and wasn’t himself. You are seeing the real Steven Davis now.
I am sure he will be happier after putting in a couple of performances recently and the supporters will hope it is a sign of things to come if he can get a full pre-season under his belt this summer.
“There is no doubt Steven still has plenty to offer for Rangers going forward.

Verdict
It’s been clear for all to see how much Davis has improved recently.
It’s not certain he’ll be at Ibrox next season, as his current loan deal expires at the end of the season.
However, particularly as a free agent, the Gers would be crazy not to get him on board permanently.
With five league matches remaining, he’ll be looking to state his case further, by finishing on a high.
