Former Rangers attacker Ryan Hardie returned to Ibrox on Saturday for the Scottish Premiership clash against Aberdeen.

The 22-year-old left the club back in July to move to EFL League One outfit Blackpool. Joining the Seasiders on a two-year deal with an option of a further year, he was one of the few players the club received a fee for in the summer window.

It has been a difficult enough start to life south of the border, where he’s found himself behind the likes of Nathan Delfouneso and Armand Gnanduillet in the pecking order.

He’s started just two of his new side’s first eleven league matches and is yet to net in the third tier [Transfermarkt]. However, he did score in a Football League Trophy win over Morecambe earlier this month.

Hardie was an unused substitute when Blackpool defeated Lincoln City on Friday evening and judging by his Instagram story post, he used his rare Saturday off to come back to Glasgow to watch his boyhood club.

Well down the pecking order behind Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe, with promising youngsters like Zak Rudden and Dapo Mebude coming through, it was the right call for the Stranraer-born attacker to end his near decade long association with the club this summer.

It’s good to see he still feels welcome back though, and like all Bears, he must have enjoyed the demolition of the Dons that took place yesterday afternoon.
