Former Rangers attacker Andy Dallas finally broke his goal duck in senior football on Saturday afternoon.

The 20-year-old showed his finishing prowess for Rangers Reserves last season, by ending up streaks clear of the rest as the SPFL Reserve League’s top goalscorer.

However, during a loan stint with Greenock Morton in the Scottish Championship, he failed to find the net.

After his return in the summer, the club surprisingly decided to accept a fee from Cambridge United and let him head for pastures new, rather than loaning him out or keeping him waiting in the wings at Ibrox.

Since the move, things have proved difficult.

He’s struggled to get genuine opportunities to contribute, mainly coming on for late cameos as a substitute.

However, he recently asserted he was still content with his brave decision to leave behind the comforts of the Gers Academy and join the EFL League Two club [Glasgow Evening Times].

Against Exeter City, his perseverance finally paid off, as he scored the U’s fourth and final goal in an emphatic win, by pouncing on a rebound to tap home.

This will be a weight off the shoulders of the young striker then, who after packing in his Ibrox dream, is working hard to forge a successful career in the game.

Hopefully, this goal is the first of many.
