Former Rangers rival, Gary Gillespie, has told the Herald he expects Steven Gerrard to be a success at the club.
Gillespie played for Celtic between 1991 and 1994, after a lengthier spell with Liverpool.

He failed to win any silverware during his time at Parkhead, as Rangers dominated the early 90s.
While he doesn’t suggest another such period is on the horizon, he thinks triumph is just around the corner at Ibrox.
“I don’t think Rangers will be struggling for too long”, Gillespie told
the Herard.
“Steven will identify the kind of guys he wants to come into his team and squad of players.
“It is difficult when you are in that situation [not winning silverware] but I don’t think it’s quite so bad for Rangers just now. I believe the gap has closed this season. Steven is heading in the right direction. Long may he suffer, right enough!
“…Rangers will be a threat and a force again in Scottish football. I’m sure of that and I am sure it is going to be with Steven Gerrard at the helm as opposed to someone else.”

It’s perhaps a little surprising for a former Celtic player to be so positive about Rangers.
However, for anyone who watched the Old Firm in December, it was clear that the Gers have made progress.
That won’t manifest itself in silverware this season, but league success was always a long shot.
Gillespie is right, with some fining tuning in the summer, Gerrard’s team will be right in the mix.
