Blackburn Rovers are considering a move for Rangers winger Jordan Jones as former Celtic boss Tony Mowbray looks to bolster his attacking options at Ewood Park.

That’s according to the Herald, who also discuss reports suggesting now Stoke City boss Michael O’Neill might be interested in linking up with his former Northern Ireland wide man [Daily Mail].

Jones missed the majority of the first half of the season through injury and any move would come six months after the winger joined Steven Gerrard’s side from Kilmarnock.

Jones, 25, has five caps for the Ulstermen and the pacey wide player signed on at Rangers via a pre-contract move with his deal at Rugby Park expiring in the summer.

The former Middlesbrough youth infamously injured himself in the 2-0 defeat to Celtic at Ibrox in September as he clattered into a challenge on right-back Patrick Bauer.

The injury has kept Jones out ever sinceand the winger was pictured at the club’s warm-weather camp in Dubai preparing for the second half of the season.

Alongside Glen Kamara, Jones signed a four-year deal last January and you get the impression he has a point to prove at his boyhood club.

Blackburn may well be expressing an interest in the winger but the Ibrox supporters have still to see the best of Jones in a Rangers jersey.

Steven Gerrard’s side have been blessed with enough strength-in-depth to manage without Jones during his spell on the sidelines but his explosive pace, work-rate and delivery could yet prove a big asset to the Ibrox club in the title race.

Would any move perhaps come too early for the winger, who was beginning to really impress for Rangers before the injury?

There has also been reported interest in Jordan Jones from Premier League outfit Sheffield United [Daily Mail].
