Rangers must improve their midfield department this summer, and the availability of Dennis Geiger on a free transfer should be explored by Ross Wilson.
What’s the story?
Well, there is a lot to do in terms of recruitment at Ibrox this summer, as ten players find themselves out of contract.
As a result, Wilson – Director of Football at Rangers – must not shy away from the free agent market, as picking up a gem for nothing would allow him to spend more on another position.
In that respect, TSG Hoffenheim maestro Geiger – who becomes a free agent in July – should be contacted.
The German has been a standout player in the Bundesliga across recent years, and has made 18 starts in Germany’s top-flight for TSG Hoffenheim so far this season.

WhoScored shows that Geiger completes 1.4 tackles per game from a defensive midfield position, where he helps TSG Hoffenheim tick with his impressive passing range – he has a pass success rate of 85.7% so far this term.
Interestingly, the Bundesliga’s official website has compared the 24-year-old to Bayern Munich playmaker Joshua Kimmich, which speaks volumes given the fact the Germany international is one of the best on the planet.
Rangers must explore Geiger move
In our view, Wilson would be a fool not to at least attempt to sign Geiger.
German news outlet Sport1 even claimed that Pep Guardiola is a massive fan of the TSG Hoffenheim No.8 and tried to bring him to Manchester City in 2019.
There has been plenty of talk about Scott McTominay joining Rangers this week.
However, the Scotland international earns £78,000-a-week at Manchester United, while 90min believe he could cost as much as £30m.
That does not represent good value for Rangers, so a move for Geiger would make far more sense – he could certainly be lured to Ibrox with the promise of Champions League football.
