A clip that has surfaced on Twitter shows Rangers star Leon Balogun committing a costly error as Nigeria slipped to a shock World Cup Qualifying defeat to the Central African Republic.
Three Gers players – Balogun, Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey – all made the Super Eagles matchday squad to take on the minnows in Lagos.

Balogun played the full 90 minutes, Aribo was subbed off with 12 minutes remaining and Bassey was an unused substitute.
Given that there are 90 places between the two nations in the FIFA World Rankings and that Gernot Rohr’s squad contained plenty of quality, the hosts were expected to win comfortably.
However, they were unable to breach a resilient CAR defence and then in the final minute of normal time, a bad mistake at the back from Balogun led to an embarrassing defeat on home soil.
After a hopeful long ball forward from the visitors, Balogun’s tentative header fell into the path of Karl Namnganda and, after falling over, the Ibrox star could then only watch on as the Les Herbiers striker went through and slotted a cool finish past the helpless Francis Uzoho.
CAR players and officials then rushed onto to pitch to celebrate what is being described as one of the best results in their history.

Balogun and his teammates are receiving plenty of criticism but they are still likely to qualify for Qatar 2022.
They remain top of Group C after three matches and have a chance to take on CAR again in Bangui on Sunday.
