On-loan Rangers striker Florian Kamberi has spoken about his determination to win a move to Ibrox [Sonntags Blick] as his short-term loan deal appears to be cut shorter by the global health crisis.

The enthusiastic striker has been a rare bright light in an otherwise disappointing few months at Ibrox Stadium and he may see his time at Rangers end without fully completing his audition.

The player’s future is a hard one to judge for Rangers and probably for Steven Gerrard, but the answer to the Florian Kamberi situation largely depends on the answer to the following question:

Is the Hibs forward part of the solution to help bring trophies back to Ibrox?

And it’s a hard one to come to any immediate conclusion.

Having turned out at Easter Road for the last few seasons, there will be few Rangers fans who doubt the Swiss/Albanian forward is a talented footballer.

A regular thorn in Celtic’s side during his time at Hibs, the former Grasshoppers striker was a big game player for the Hibees, even if an inconsistent one.

The striker also had an infamous bust-up with former Hibs and current Celtic boss Neil Lennon which may well act as a personal motivation in the Gers’ hunt to close the gap.

Kamberi has also done nothing but talk up Rangers ever since he joined the club.

This was a move the striker spoke about dreaming of and one which he was committed to making the most of [Rangers].

Since coming in Kamberi’s enthusiasm for the club has shown in his (often brief) appearances for Rangers.

Ibrox boss Steven Gerrard also described the striker as a “breath of fresh air” and “absolutely outstanding”.

There is undoubtedly a player there and at 25 Kamberi still has some space to develop.

But hard-work, enthusiasm and flashes of ability are no real substitute for success and this is something which Kamberi has had little of in his career.

Most players come to Rangers to win things, so holding the fact Kamberi has yet to win anything against him is both a worthwhile point and an unrevealing one.

But it’s clear that if the forward is to win a move to Rangers – having burned his bridges with Hibs – he needs to prove that he can make that difference.

Rumoured attitude problems, application issues and a lack of consistency are not what we need and if that Hibs Kamberi is who’s coming to Ibrox we’re probably better off without.

But I’m going to be honest, I like the guy and want to optimistic here.

if we’re signing the Kamberi who’s focused on impressing and taking his chance at Rangers, we might just be getting a difference-maker who can come up big for the club when needed.
