Rangers starlet Tony Weston has been in excellent form so far this season for the Gers B team, scoring 35 goals already and his recent performance will surely put the pressure on Giovanni van Bronckhorst to think about a first-team call up soon.

Weston came on for forgotten man Cedric Itten on the hour mark of the City of Glasgow Cup, where the B team was facing off against Queen’s Park.

The 20-year-old proceeded to upstage the Swiss striker and score two goals in just six minutes as the side won the tie 2-0.

Tony Weston is on fire this season for the Rangers B team

Scoring 35 goals so far this season is a fantastic effort, already 22 more than summer signing Juan Alegria, and surely Gio can’t ignore this form for much longer.

Obviously, it will be tougher than usual due to the club fighting on three fronts at the moment, but with the Ibrox side struggling for goals recently, then Weston would be a great option.

Rangers can’t keep relying on Alfredo Morelos for the rest of the season, with Fashion Sakala and Kemar Roofe making minimal contributions recently, the side is suffering.

Weston looks the real deal and surely a chance will arrive sooner rather than later. The Englishman could potentially save the club a small fortune, why spend big when there is a talent this good in the B team?

His performance against Queens Park surely means the end for Cedric Itten, and he could follow in the footsteps of Alex Lowry who made his debut in January.

Lowry excelled having been given an opportunity for Gio and you have to think that Weston would do the same.

Meanwhile, Rangers Euro opponents Red Star Belgrade are on an impressive winning streak and could cause problems on Thursday evening.
