Rangers central defender Filip Helander will leave the club at the end of the season, according to Glasgow World.

Filip Helander to leave Rangers in 2023 summer

Helander is out of contract at Rangers at the end of the season, and the report has claimed that the 29-year-old Sweden international is expected to leave the former Scottish Premiership champions.

Football Insider have also reported that the defender will leave Rangers when his current contract at the Ibrox club expires in the summer of 2023.

The Gers have reportedly decided not to hand the centre-back a new deal.

No big miss for Rangers

In our view, Filip Helander will not be a massive miss for Rangers if he leaves at the end of the season.

Now, it will be a disappointment for Rangers that they will not get any transfer fee for a player they paid £3.5 million (Sky Sports) for.

That could not be helped, though.

While Helander did well in the season when Rangers won the Scottish Premiership title under then manager Steven Gerrard, he has had persistent injury problems and has not been able to make a huge impact in recent times.

The Swedish defender played only six times in the Scottish Premiership last season, scoring one goal in the process.
