Eredivisie side Feyenoord have taken to Twitter to wish Giovanni van Bronckhorst all the best as he is announced manager of Rangers.

Gio came through the ranks at the Dutch outfit and finished his playing career with them before going on have a spell in charge as manager.

Taking to the social media platform, the new Rangers manager’s former club have sent their best wishes ahead of a new era at Ibrox and said, “Good luck in Scotland, Giovanni!”.

This is a classy move from the de Kuip club with van Bronckhorst a legend in Rotterdam for everything he done in the Netherlands.

Former teammate and player Robin van Persie has also wished the manager all the best at Rangers.

As have Rangers’ German allies HSV.

Not only is Gio a Rotterdam native and a boyhood Feyenoord fan, but he came through the youth ranks at the club and spent five years there at the beginning of his professional career.

“I feel so lucky to be going to work with a squad which is in a great position on all fronts and largely has that experience of being winners.
