Rangers are continuing to carry out feasibility studies over expanding Ibrox Stadium, it was revealed at the club’s AGM today.
Stewart Robertson was responding to questions from shareholders after an emotional day for Rangers where Dave King announced his decision to step down as chairman of the Ibrox club.
Discussing essential improvements for disabled access at Ibrox, the club is prepared to invest in improving the situation but also in considering expansion at the famous ground.
It’s not the first time the discussion about stadium expansion has reared its head at Ibrox and continues the ongoing discussion about improvements at Ibrox.
Rangers have invested heavily in bringing the stadium and training centre up to speed and now attention turns to improvements to modernise the ground.
Back in July Stewart Robertson revealed Rangers were considering the very real prospect of stadium expansion at Ibrox [Daily Record].
“It’s something we’re looking at just now. We won’t see anything as grand as another tier built on top of one of the existing stands,” explains Robertson.
“However, we are exploring ways we can add additional seating into the stadium. I don’t see it being another 10,000, it would maybe be low thousands.

“There are feasibility works going on at this moment and we’re probably two or three months away from knowing whether it will be possible or not.”
A few months on, it appears the Ibrox hierarchy are still exploring the possibility of increasing the capacity of the iconic stadium.
