Fans love it as Ross McCrorie makes Rangers goalkeeping debut

Rangers’ Sunday afternoon fixture with Hibernian looked to be about to pass largely without incident.
For the most part, there was a lack of intensity and flatness in the atmosphere suggestive of the fact the Gers now have nothing left to play for.

However, things turned chaotic just minutes from the final whistle.
After clearing his lines, Allan McGregor inexplicably kicked out at Marc McNulty, catching him high on the back with his studs.
It was a ludicrous act from such an experienced player. With the amount of SFA charges meted out this season, did he really think he could get away with something so blatantly obvious? A brief feigning of injury afterward was pretty embarrassing too.

With all three substitutions already made, it could have been disastrous.

Cometh the hour, cometh the man

Substitute, Ross McCrorie, stepped up to the mark, donning the gloves and the orange jersey.
His brother, of course, is a Gers and a youth international keeper, so there’s something in the genes. Yet, it was a relief that Hibs failed to test him with an effort on target.

He was required to come to collect one errand through ball. Then, remarkably, his clearance kick almost turned into a 70 yard assist for Alfredo Morelos.

That wasn’t to be, but he would get through unscathed as Rangers took home the points.
With the result in the bag, both Ross and the fans were able to see the funny side. Here’s a selection of reactions on Twitter:
