Rangers have seen another backroom figure post Sal Bibbo leaving Ibrox after spending over three years at the club.

Bibbo will join Coventry City, following their promotion to the Premier League, as he’s now set to finalise his exit.

He moved to Ibrox last summer as part of Russell Martin’s backroom staff and was retained by Danny Rohl.

Caio Pontes leaves Rangers for St Louis City SC

Rangers News understands that Caio Pontes has left the club on a permanent basis to join Major League Soccer (MLS) club St Louis City SC.

Pontes served as the Light Blues’ first-team analyst, but has accepted a role to move to the United States.

He moved to Ibrox in June 2023 as an Academy Analyst Intern, before he was handed a promotion last June.

Martin and Rohl were the two first-team managers he worked under, but they will not be continuing in the Derek McInnes era.

Before moving to Ibrox, Pontes spent five months at Stirling Albion as their Performance and Recruitment Analyst.

He also worked at Total Football Analysis Pro as their Tactical Analyst.

Will Rangers look to hire a replacement for Pontes?

One source has told Rangers News that the process to overhaul the recruitment team began when the new owners took over.

Pontes’ exit is not one that was planned, and it was he who decided that it was time to make the move in his career.

The Light Blues remain on the lookout to strengthen their backroom team in order to give the manager all the tools he needs to build a title-winning squad.

Rangers continue to work on multiple transfer deals, and announcements for the same will be made in due course.
