Ex-SPFL chief executive Roger Mitchell appeared to be trolled by a video claiming to show Rangers fans meeting the club’s squad at the airport, calling the Ibrox support “psychologically damaged” in the process.
An online trickster uploaded a video of Rangers fans meeting the players on their return from Ufa after Steven Gerrard took the club into the group stages of the Europa League in 2018 and made it look like fans were meeting the current squad after the Veolia trophy victory in France.
Commenting on Twitter, outspoken Mitchell tried to use this as a barb to sting Rangers fans with, whom he believes have been affected psychologically by Celtic’s recent title dominance.
Either Mitchell has been trolled or he has taken this opportunity to get salty over the fact Rangers pipped Celtic to the trophy in France.
Despite previously being a leading figure in the Scottish game Mitchell routinely resorts to childish, trolling coverage of Rangers and their supporters.
The tweet is obviously designed to bait the club’s fans and once again it highlights the truly tragic nature and culture of those within the governance of our game.
Mitchell’s behaviour on social media platforms and commentary in the press comes across as incredibly bitter and the ex-SPFL man is a joke figure in the Rangers community.
More than anything else, it’s sad.
