Ex-SFA chief and self-confessed Celtic fan Roger Mitchell has sarcastically pleaded with Celtic to declare the league null and void and bail Rangers and the rest of Scottish football out.
The outspoken former SFA supremo was talking as the debate rages on over the outcome of the domestic league season in Scotland.
With leagues suspended and growing fears over them not returning any time soon, Mitchell called for Celtic to “take the moral high ground” and void the season.
Describing Celtic as we, it’s a further suggestion that Mitchell’s consistent soundbites in the Scottish press come with his own team’s best interests at heart.
These comments appear to be in total contradiction to earlier statements which suggested Rangers had accepted Celtic as champions whilst Hearts were coming to terms with relegation.
“What my friends are saying to me is that at some point Uefa or the national governments will instruct the football bodies to call an end to 2019-20. This will be done,” said Mitchell [Scotsman].
“The season will not be null and void. Promotion and relegation will be decided.
“There’s formula for ascertaining likely points totals but I don’t think in Scotland this will change anything: Celtic will be champions and Hearts will be down.
“I think Hearts have accepted the situation, which is why they’re making these cutbacks.
“And I think Rangers have accepted it too, although they won’t actually say this.
“My understanding is that Scottish football has pulled together and realised this is a black swan moment, a total crisis, and that it’s time decisions were made with clear heads and not passionate hearts.”
Nothing coming out of either Ibrox or Tynecastle has suggested anything like this, in fact, quite the opposite.

Rangers fans also raised their own doubts that their club has accepted anything of the sort.
The debate continues to rage over where the league title should go at the end of this season with the league campaign currently rescheduled to restart on April 30th.
This looks unlikely given the British government have suggested that the situation surrounding the coronavirus will take at least 12 weeks to remedy in the UK [Boris Johnson].
