Ex-Rangers striker hits another hat-trick ahead of league title win

Former Rangers striker Cedric Itten just can’t stop scoring back in Switzerland with BSC Young Boys having hit a hat-trick.

We took a look at Itten’s form just over a month ago.

The striker had bagged a 13-minute hat-trick against Basel, coming off the bench to wreak havoc.

Itten has been at it again in recent days having helped Young Boys absolutely destroy Servette.

Young Boys racked up a 6-1 win with Itten racking up another hat-trick.

Terrible attempts from Servette to play out from the back saw Itten notch his first of the game from six yards out.

Itten then recorded an assist for Young Boys’ third, setting up Christian Fassnacht to score from close range.

Itten headed home his second and Young Boys’ fourth, aided by some inexplicable goalkeeping by Jeremy Frick.

More weak goalkeeping from Frick allowed Itten to head in his hat-trick goal, putting Young Boys 5-0 up.

The score ended 6-1 as Young Boys took another step closer to the Swiss league title.

Young Boys sit 19 points clear at the top of the table and Itten appears to be just days away from becoming a league champion.

That’s now 17 league goals for the season for Itten, as well as four in the Swiss Cup.

Add in 12 assists across all competitions and the former Rangers striker is enjoying an outstanding campaign.

Rangers sold Itten to Young Boys for around £1.5million last summer.

That was a small loss for Rangers having paid £2.7million to sign Itten from St Gallen in 2020.

Itten just never really made himself a key player at Rangers and spent time out on loan at Greuther Furth last season.

Now seemingly enjoying his time back in Switzerland, Itten is firing Young Boys to the league title.

Rangers need to find that kind of goalscorer for themselves; Itten wasn’t that player at Ibrox but it’s clear the Swiss hitman has talent in front of goal.
