Malik Tillman is a player who has gone from strength to strength since leaving Rangers.

The attacking midfielder followed his loan at Ibrox with one at PSV and managed nine goals and a whopping 15 assists in that season.

The Eredivisie side succeeded where Rangers failed by making it permanent and he has continued to produce for them, with six goals and four assists so far this campaign.

Those numbers were bulked up in a brilliant Champions League performance last night.

Ex Rangers star Malik Tillman scores brilliant Champions League goal for PSV

Tillman started for PSV last night as they beat Girona 4-0 in the Champions League. The Spaniards had one time Rangers linked ex-Aberdeen striker Bojan Miovski in their side.

But it was the Dutch giants who ran out comfortable winners, scoring two goals in each half to see off the La Liga outfit.

Tillman was the scorer of the second goal on 33 minutes as he gave his team some breathing space heading towards the half-time break.

And he did it all himself.

The 22-year-old picked up the ball out wide on the left, around 30 yards from goal.

With no-one around him he advanced forward with the ball, drifting infield towards the box.

Defenders kept on retreating so Tillman kept going and at the end of his lengthy dribble had the composure to smash the ball past a helpless Paulo Gazzaniga.

He also contributed two assists in the match in a starring show and picked up the player of the match award.

Tillman shows Rangers what they’re missing

What the current Rangers side would give to have a Tillman in their team, someone who can produce a goal like that from nothing.

He split opinion at the time with some questioning his commitment while a loan player and also his ability to impact bigger matches.

But his quality was never in question and he has only improved since then.

With Gers’ struggles in the number 10 position, Tom Lawrence failing to impress before his injury against Motherwell, the USA international would be a cert to play most weeks in there.
