Former Rangers star Joe Garner has been sent off alongside outspoken Celtic fan James McClean after an on-pitch clash in an English League One tie between Wigan and Fleetwood.
Joe Garner, now 33, plays as a striker for Fleetwood Town in the English third tier whilst Republic of Ireland international winger James McClean, 32, plays for Wigan Athletic.
The incident occurred in injury time of the Latics’ 2-0 win over their League One rivals, James McClean actually scoring the second goal of the game after Will Keane had scored a penalty.
But it was that incident at the end of the match, where ex-Rangers star Joey Garner and Celtic fan James McClean had to be pulled off each other, that made headlines at full-time.
Joe Garner clashes with James McClean
The incident occurred after McClean sneakily shoved Garner in the back as he went for a header late in the match, with the ex-Rangers striker immediately reacting.
McClean would then grab Garner in a headlock before the pair rolled around the ground with no quarter given before teammates separated them and the red cards came out.
The two would then exchange a few words as Joey Garner jogged down the tunnel and the incident has obviously taken on greater significance given the pair’s club allegiances.
James McClean has taken several shots at Rangers over the years and is anything but quiet when it comes to his Celtic allegiances.
Joe Garner played for Rangers during the Mark Warburton era at Ibrox, signing on a £1.8m deal in 2016 [Scotsman] and going on to play in 34 matches with the club, scoring ten goals.

Moving on to Ipswich Town only a season later, Garner’s time at Rangers is most famous for attempts by the Ibrox support to make Glad All Over by Dave Clark Five a Christmas number one in support of the forward.
An online feud with fans of girl band Little Mix would break out as a result, with Clean Bandit eventually claiming the award with their track Rockabye.
Speaking of Rangers and strikers, read about how the Ibrox side narrowly missed out on the deadline day signing of an Italian international.
