Former Ibrox midfielder Derek Ferguson has claimed that there are several Rangers players thinking about leaving the club this summer.

The former Gers player and brother of ex-Ibrox captain Barry, Ferguson believes that the pressure at Rangers is forcing some of the current squad to consider their futures.

Speaking on the Open Goal’s Right on the Coupon, Ferguson believes that having watched Rangers it looks like many already have one eye on the summer.

“Have Rangers got talented players? I think so,” said Ferguson.

“Have they got strong individuals? Mentally strong? No.

“I think they’re pretty weak and they’ve shown that.

“It’s as if, watching games, already they’re thinking about the end of the season.

“‘Can I get myself out of this situation?’ Go to another club where there’s not that pressure.

“If you don’t like it or enjoy that sort of stuff, leave.”

This Rangers side have come under increasing pressure for their woeful domestic form, having slipped 13 points behind Celtic and exited the Scottish Cup to Hearts.

The programme notes of captain James Tavernier have been scrutinised, whilst alongside Connor Goldson, the duo’s recent performances have been questioned by the Ibrox support.

The likes of Ryan Kent have also been criticised for his comments comparing playing in Europe to playing in Scotland [Daily Record].

It’s left supporters, like ex-player Ferguson, wondering if this side has it in them to deal with the pressure of playing for Rangers.
