Former Rangers defender Graham Roberts is never shy of a bit of controversy and he’s stirred some up again with his latest comments about Aberdeen and Celtic.
The former England international didn’t take any rubbish at Ibrox and he certainly wasn’t when he was speaking on talkSPORT this week.
Roberts believes that Aberdeen roll over and let Celtic win, whilst Rangers are always given a tough game by the Dandies.

“Steven Gerrard has done an amazing job. He has turned the club around,” Roberts told talkSPORT [as quoted by the Daily Record].
“But the games they struggle in is when they go to Aberdeen. They have to win those games because when Celtic go there, Aberdeen roll over and let them win.
“They do roll over for Celtic.
“The difference at Ibrox for Old Firm games is there is now only 800 Celtic fans. This gives them a big chance of winning. They did so twice last season.
“Listen, I know what it’s like to play in front of them (Celtic fans). I once played in goal and did the flute band.”
Roberts certainly hasn’t held back and there are a few fans who agree that Aberdeen almost look a beaten team before they play Celtic.
The claim is that when they face off against Rangers, by comparison, their side is normally much more up for it, better organised and on-the-face of it, work a lot harder.
It’s not the first bit of controversy Roberts has found himself in.

During an Old Firm derby in 1987, Roberts was forced into the goal as Rangers went down to 9 men against Celtic.
But with the scores level at 2-2, Roberts famously began conducting the crowd as he took up position between the sticks, earning him the nickname “the Conductor”.
Roberts comments will do little to improve relations with Aberdeen, who’ve cut the Ibrox club’s ticket allocation even further this season [Aberdeen.co.uk].
