Former Rangers hardman Duncan Ferguson has gone viral after English League One club Forest Green Rovers uploaded a clip of him trying a vegan croissant.

Big Dunc is in his first-ever managerial job with the “world’s first carbon-neutral football club” as the hipster outfit try to stave off relegation from the third flight of the English game.

But taking a break from the club’s disastrous League One form, the weekend’s 3-1 defeat to Bristol Rovers leaving them seven points adrift at the bottom of the table, the club released a fun video of the manager trying the pastry from a vegan bakery.

Since then, the clip of ex-Rangers star Duncan Ferguson trying the vegan croissant has gone viral with the video is in stark contrast to the hardman image cultivated during his years with Everton, Newcastle and Rangers.

This comes with Forest Green incorporating a vegan diet into their staff and player catering, with the club owned by green energy tycoon Dale Vince.

“I am just going to try one of these lovely croissants,” said Duncan Ferguson.

“Make sure I don’t eat the packet.

“Quite nice that. Think I will have them for my tea tonight.

“La Boulangere is very tasty no matter how you say it, and believe me it is very difficult to say it, but it is very tasty.”

Writing a story about Duncan Ferguson trying a vegan croissant is not something many of thought we’d be doing when it came to the ex-Rangers star, but here we are.

The ex-Gers striker broke the British transfer record when the Ibrox side paid £4m to sign him from Dundee United in 1993 but his time at Ibrox was overshadowed by trouble.

Ferguson was infamously jailed for a headbutt on Raith Rovers defender John McStay in 1994 and such was his treatment from the Scottish authorities, the big striker went on to spend the rest of his career down south.

Meanwhile, Castore have struck a new deal with an English Championship side.
