Former Rangers midfielder Lassana Coulibaly is now playing alongside Franck Ribery at US Salernitana but their team is currently bottom of Serie A.
Coulibaly spent the 2018/19 season at Ibrox on loan from Angers and impressed during the first few months of the campaign before slipping down the pecking order.
He made 30 appearances in total and scored three goals before returning to France and now, after a loan spell at Cercle Brugge and a stint in the Angers team, he’s plying his trade in Italy.
Newly-promoted Salernitana snapped him up on a long-term contract in the summer and he’s established himself in their starting XI, featuring in all 13 matches he’s been fit for so far this season.
As a regular, the 25-year-old is finding himself playing alongside highly-decorated ex-France international Franck Ribery week in week out.
Ribery also joined the Salerno-based club in the summer after two years at Fiorentina and the 2012/13 winner of the UEFA Best Player in Europe award is serving as their captain.
Things aren’t going to plan for Coulibaly and Ribery at their new club, though.
Salernitana are bottom of Serie A after 16 rounds of matches with just two wins and eight points to their name, while neither the former Ger nor the ex-Bayern Munich star have managed to find the net.
The top-flight newcomers have only gained one point from their last six matches, falling to 2-0 defeats to Juventus and AC Milan in their two most recent outings.
There’s still hope that they’ll be able to turn things around, given that they are currently only five points from safety.
However, their fixtures aren’t getting any easier, with a trip to Fiorentina up next followed by a home clash against Inter Milan.
