Former Rangers wonderkid Billy Gilmour has been named in the Chelsea Champions League squad as the player’s monumental rise at Stamford Bridge continues.

Still only 18, Gilmour is rated as one of the Premier League giant’s biggest talents. So much so manager Frank Lampard gave Gilmour his Premier League debut earlier this month.

Now, the England and Chelsea legend has made a big statement by including Gilmour in his squad for the European campaign.

Gilmour has been included on Chelsea’s B list for the competition as the London club look forward to a challenging Champions League campaign.

Chelsea are set to face Valencia, Lille and last season’s semi-finalists Ajax in Group H of the competition this season.

It’s a testament to Gilmour’s development over the last couple of seasons at the Blues that he is now considered one of the club’s brightest talents.

Gilmour left Rangers for Chelsea back in 2017 as the Ibrox club were left gutted that the precocious young talent headed south.

But it’s a decision which is proving to be a positive one for Gilmour as he sits on the fringes of the Chelsea side.

Gilmour still has plenty of connection with Rangers too, Gers youngster Glenn Middleton has been talking up the “good understanding” he has on the pitch with the talented midfielder [Daily Record].
