Partick Thistle full-back Richard Foster believes that Rangers defender Leon Balogun “went down quite easily” for James Tavernier’s penalty in the 4-0 win over Aberdeen.
The ex-Ibrox right-back was speaking on Sportscene as he analysed the dominant win over the Pittodrie side, for whom journeyman Foster also played.

Balogun, 32, won a penalty after Aberdeen defender Andrew Considine wrestled him to the ground in a stonewall penalty only bested by the one on Kemar Roofe which wasn’t given in the first half.
Speaking about the decision to blow the whistle for the penalty – which was expertly dispatched by Gers captain James Tavernier – Foster suggested the decision was soft even if it was a penalty.
“I think it is (a penalty),” said Foster [Sportscene].
“You look at big Andy here, he drags him back.
“I think Balogun is the wrong side of him and Andy thinks he’s maybe going to get a header at goal so he just kind of puts his arm around him.
“He does go down quite easily but it’s still a penalty.”
Rangers thumped Aberdeen 4-0 to go 11 points clear of the Scottish Premiership table courtesy of goals from Ryan Kent, Kemar Roofe, Scott Arfield and James Tavernier.

Tavernier’s penalty was the Rangers skipper’s 9th goal in the Scottish Premiership this season with the right-back now topping the division’s scoring charts.
Such has been the Rangers captain’s inspired form, surely Tavernier is on a fast-track to picking up a special award come to the end of the season.
