Rangers’ Swiss striker Cedric Itten has been pictured training with the first-team ahead of the club’s Europa League QR2 tie with the Lincoln Red Imps following an injury.

The £2.5m summer signing was hampered in the early stages of his Rangers career with a calf knock but now the 23-year-old striker looks ready to return to action.

Now the Gers could unleash the striker against the Gibraltarian side in the hope of getting the forward’s name on the Ibrox club’s score sheet for the first time.

Strikers thrive on goals and even when Itten was making early appearances for the club you could sense the forward was perhaps over-eager to burst the net for the first time.

Against the lowly-ranked Red Imps, this is a superb opportunity to get minutes into the legs of Itten and to provide him with a chance to hit the ground running.

Whilst Itten might not necessarily start the match should Rangers manage to get this over the line early it provides a perfect platform to rest players and give the forward his chance.

The forward comes with a decent pedigree having just come off the back of a stunning season in Switzerland with FC St. Gallen.

Itten hit 19 goals as the club earned an impressive second-place finish and there’s real hope that Rangers have unearthed a talented, powerful forward in the Swiss international.

Should the match go as planned in Gibraltar this could be the perfect chance to get Itten off the mark for the club.
