End of Season Report: Glen Kamara

Moving on from Ross McCrorie, it’s time to take a look at Glen Kamara.
When the 23-year-old signed from Dundee for a reported £50k in January [Daily Record], few knew what to expect.

That’s a measly transfer fee by today’s standards, and who would be willing to let a top player go for that sort of fee?
Yet, almost from the first time he pulled on a Rangers strip, he has excelled.
After signing on deadline day, Steven Gerrard gave him a while to settle in and build up match fitness.
He made his debut in the 0-0 draw at home to St Johnstone in February and has been a near ever-presence since.
Kamara netted his first Gers goal against his former club before that month was out, but has generally played in the deepest of the three central midfield berths.

Like all quality players, he seems to have that extra bit of time on the ball, and he very rarely wastes a pass.

The fans took to him from the word go, but he really cemented his place as an Ibrox favourite in the recent Old Firm win.
A sublime turn sent Scott Brown packing, before his through ball set up the Scott Arfield goal that sealed the points.

A poor square pass to gift Aberdeen their opener in the Scottish Cup is one blemish that sticks out. Other than that, though, he’s been superb and looks every inch a Rangers player.
Some Gerrard buys such a Grezda and Lafferty haven’t worked out. Kamara, though, has been a total revelation and is, without doubt, the signing of the season.
