This week marks the eight-year anniversary of the last time Rangers won a major trophy at Hampden.
On March 20th, 2011, Rangers triumphed over Celtic in an iconic Old Firm Final. Rangers won 2-1 thanks to an extra-time goal from Nikica Jelavic after Joe Ledley’s equaliser cancelled out Steven Davis’ opener for Rangers.
It was a massive day for Rangers and the first part of a league and cup double that season. But would we have celebrated just that little bit harder had we known what was to come?
This was the season before Rangers were plunged into administration. At the match, little did we know how things would unfold over the next eight years.
Even with talk of uncertainty in the background, we never could’ve believed the club would end up starved of silverware for so long.

It’s now eight long years since Rangers last picked up a major Scottish trophy. Not that we haven’t had our chances. The less said about the Scottish Cup Final of 2016 the better.
And whilst we might’ve picked up the Petrofac Cup in 2016, it’s scant consolation for such a barren spell of major Hampden triumphs.
