George Edmundson says he’s hoping to keep his spot in the Rangers team after impressing in the 2-1 win over Hibernian on Wednesday night, as quoted by Rangers.co.uk.
The 22-year-old centre-back was handed just his second league start since joining the Light Blues in the summer, coming into the XI in place of fan favourite, Nikola Katic.

There was to be no clean sheet for the imposing centre-back, who did give away the free-kick which led to Hibs’ opener.
However, otherwise, he defended solidly, and he made a big contribution to the win, through his first goal for the club.
He reacted like a striker when the ball fell to him in the box on the stroke of the interval, firing a confident finish into the bottom right corner.
“It was good to play,” said Edmundson, as quoted by Rangers.co.uk. “I thought I did alright and hopefully, I can get selected for the next game – we will prepare for that and see what happens.”
“I think everybody knows we have probably been off it the last couple of weeks and I think that second-half shows we were back to our best tonight.
“It will be a tough game again on Saturday so we will prepare properly and hopefully we can get the win.”

Verdict
Edmundson certainly didn’t do his chances any harm last night, showing, as he has done each time he’s been afforded an opportunity, that he’s a very capable defender, despite his relative youth.
It will interesting to see what way Gerrard goes at the back for Saturday afternoon’s Scottish Cup tie at Hamilton Accies.
Katic’s form had dipped a little over the early part of this year after a colossal end to 2019, but it’s unclear whether his omission against Hibs was him being dropped or given a rest.
The Cup will be taken very seriously by Gerrard, so Connor Goldson is likely to make up one half of the centre-back pairing, and at this point, Edmundson may be a slight favourite to continue alongside him.
