Rangers are looking to swiftly appoint a new Head of Performance and a new Director of Football after Philippe Clement was announced as manager.

According to TEAMtalk, the Ibrox side are wasting no time in reshuffling the pack in the background of the club as they look to arm their new Belgian boss with the best resources to make the job a success.

Fans will take note of links to a new Head of Performance at Rangers after Jack Ade left the club alongside Michael Beale and his Rangers backroom staff.

Injuries have been a major issue at the club since the time of Giovanni van Bronckhorst and incoming Rangers boss Philippe Clement has previously taken a pop at the playing squad’s poor physicality.

Improving the fitness of the Rangers squad to an elite standard is believed to be a priority of the Belgian manager with the report claiming Philippe Clement is “obsessed” with this non-negotiable.

With Rangers already being handed a stunning 13 sicklines this season, it’s a situation which quite simply has to change and the incoming Head of Performance appointment has to be the right one.

Kemar Roofe, Ryan Jack, Todd Cantwell, Jose Cifuentes, Ridvan Yilmaz, Steven Davis, Borna Barisic, Danilo, Kieran Dowell, Tom Lawrence, and Rabbi Matondo have all missed matches this season, with Connor Goldson and James Tavernier also carrying knocks.

Director of Football and Head of Performance to join Rangers

A lack of defined structure in the background of Rangers has cost the club with a crucial window of recruitment led by now sacked manager Michael Beale.

Rangers CEO James Bisgrove confirmed at the unveiling of Philippe Clement that a Technical Director/Director of Football appointment is “imminent”.

Whilst there have been several candidates linked – most recently Brighton’s Sam Jewell – it remains unclear who Rangers will turn to in this regard.

Whatever the case with the new Head of Performance and the new Director of Football, Rangers fans will be eager to see the appointment made swiftly.

As Philippe Clement looks to rescue the club’s stuttering season, the last thing Rangers need is off-field distraction and let’s hope the board put their money where their mouth is.
