Rangers have been linked with Karlan Grant and West Brom may be open to offers as the Championship outfit look to contend with their ongoing financial issues.
During an interview with The Athletic – one which will do little to ease the concerns of Baggies supporters already fearing for the club’s future under unpopular owner Guochuan Lai – managing director Mark Miles spoke openly about the challenges facing West Brom over the final month-and-a-half the transfer window.
“Clearly, everyone can see that – to be competitive next season – we do need a change around in the squad,” Miles explains.
In short, expect sales over the coming weeks; head coach Carlos Corberan facing an uphill battle as he looks to put his own stamp on the squad during his first summer at the helm.

“(Our plans) will involve players going out as well as players coming in,” Miles adds. “Carlos has a very clear vision of who he wants those players to be and, in order to get that for him, there is a need for players to leave.
“What is available to spend is dependent on which players go out.”
Rangers like Karlan Grant
There is interest from Leeds United in midfielder Jayson Molumby. Grady Diangana, meanwhile, is also a target for a number of Championship clubs. Dara O’Shea joined Premier League comers Burnley in a deal worth £7 million recently.
Karlan Grant is another West Brom may be open to moving on; The Mirror reporting in May that Rangers still hold an interest in a player who is eligible to play for Scotland. One who was also on their radar during Mick Beale’s first spell at Ibrox.
A £15 million signing from Huddersfield Town, Grant scored only three goals in 31 Championship appearances last term. But, like Todd Cantwell, Abdallah Sima and Kieran Dowell, the chance to revive Grant’s stuttering career may appeal to a Rangers side who are making a habit of signing down-on-their-luck stars in need of a fresh start.
Grant, as recently as 2021/22, scored 18 goals and set up seven more for West Brom, after all. There is clearly a talented player in there, fighting to get out.
Sales may be needed first
The question now, however, is not about Grant’s potential. But about whether or not he is still required at a Rangers side who have already strengthened their frontline with the signings of Sima and Cyriel Dessers.
One suspects that Rangers will only step up their interest if they can first find a buyer for the likes of Antonio Colak – reportedly available for £2 million – and/or Rabbi Matondo.
Grant’s versatility will certainly appeal to Beale. The Rangers boss likes flexible footballers capable of playing in multiple positions, and the one-time Charlton starlet has been utilised through the middle and out wide at West Brom.
