Many Rangers fans have been left confused, angry and upset by the latest news that HMRC overcharged the club by up to £50m in tax back in 2012 [Times].
It lead former Chairman John McClelland to suggest that due to this Rangers were a turn off for investors and were forced down a route which took the club’s holding company into administration and eventually liquidation.
With Rangers fans questioning whether the Ibrox club should ever have suffered in 2012, does it bring into question the credibility of Celtic’s recent dominance?

Whatever angle you take on this, one football club has benefited more than any other through the gross financial incompetence surrounding Rangers.
Since Rangers were demoted, Celtic have won 15 of the 21 domestic trophies, including eight titles in a row.
Rangers – now with a squad and spirit capable of challenging our Old Firm rivals – have had to sit back and watch their excruciating dominance.
But without any shadow of a doubt, Celtic’s recent domestic success must have an asterisk alongside it.
If it is found that Rangers being overcharged by HMRC was the catalyst for the holding company’s demise, then it undoubtedly brings into question the credibility of their achievements.

There are plenty of questions which need to be answered following the release of the figures by the Times.
One of them is whether or not Celtic’s titles from the last eight seasons are amongst the most tainted in world footballing history?
