With manager Michael Beale officially done at Rangers, the club are still yet to replace outgoing Director of Football Ross Wilson.

Results have not been good enough for Beale who has see the axe fall after a 3-1 defeat to Aberdeen at Ibrox.

The result saw the swell of Rangers fans turn on the coach who leaves the club seven points adrift in the Scottish Premiership and as a result has been taken out of the firing line.

Deciding who comes in to replace him is not our job but it will also not be the job of a Director of Football at Ibrox.

Whilst it was Ross Wilson who moved for Giovanni van Bronckhorst and then Michael Beale, Rangers have failed to replace the now Nottingham Forest director ever since his return to the Premier League.

Rangers without manager or director football after Michael Beale sacking

There is a gargantuan gap in this part of the club which has been shown up by a summer of shoddy recruitment and a lack of post-Michael Beale manager planning at Rangers.

It’s symbolic of a wider regression at the club over the last few seasons and Rangers now face a huge uphill battle to close a widening on and off pitch gap with Old Firm rivals Celtic.

The club is not helped by a lack of continuity in the back room with the failure to replace Ross Wilson and sign a new Director of Football looking more and more critical by the day.

For Rangers boss Michael Beale, it’s a situation which has proven fatal.

With no Ross Wilson type to share the responsibility of recruitment, the spotlight has shown brightly on Michael Beale after a summer of discontent.

As attentions turn to who Rangers might sign to replace Michael Beale as manager, it might also be an idea to sign a Director of Football who can help share the burden of responsibilities at Ibrox.
