Derek McInnes has raved about Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland after watching the Gers star in action for Michael Beale’s side against Real Betis at Ibrox on Thursday evening.

Rangers got the better of Real Betis 1-0 at Ibrox in UEFA Europa League Group C on Thursday evening.

Abdallah Sima scored the only goal of the match midway through the second half.

Kemar Roofe provided the assist.

Jack Butland started the match for Rangers and was superb in goal.

The 30-year-old, who joined Rangers in the summer transfer window as a free agent, made a number of saves, including one to deby Abde Ezzalzouli in the first half.

And former Rangers midfielder Derek McInnes was impressed.

McInnes said, as quoted on BBC Sport: “Jack Butland has settled in brilliantly at Rangers. I think he’s been excellent.

“It’s such an important position in terms of building that foundation and getting clean sheets.”

Jack Butland an important player for Rangers

In our view, Jack Butland is one of the best and most important players for Rangers.

The 30-year-old Englishman moved to Rangers just a few weeks ago, but he has already made himself a key figure in Michael Beale’s team.

Butland is at the top of his game at the age of 30, and his experience of playing for the likes of Stoke City and Crystal Palace is very crucial in him becoming a success at Rangers.

The Rangers no. 1 has made five appearances in the Scottish Premiership, one in the UEFA Europa League and one in the Scottish League Cup.
