Derek Ferguson has accused the Rangers team of a ‘lack of respect’ with brother Barry Ferguson.

Barry Ferguson has been in interim charge of Rangers since the sacking of Philippe Clement in February but the Ibrox legend has been unable to stop the rot in Glasgow’s southside.

Speaking after the weekend’s 2-2 Scottish Premiership draw with St Mirren, a despondent Ferguson railed against players who are failing to carry out instructions.

Brother Derek Ferguson has now leapt to Barry’s defence and taken aim at the misfiring Rangers squad in explosive comments.

Derek Ferguson accuses Rangers team of ‘lack of respect’

Speaking on Open Goal, Derek Ferguson was discussing Barry’s situation at Rangers.

The former Ibrox midfielder reckons his younger brother is simply ‘fed up’ with a team who are failing to carry out instructions.

The ex-Rangers star then took aim at the Rangers team, accusing the club’s players of a ‘lack of respect’ for Barry Ferguson.

“You heard his interview after the game, didn’t you,” Ferguson said.

”He said ‘what’s the point?’. It says down here he’s fed up, he’s not fed up, he’s just frustrated.

”Aye (I think he’s close to erupting). You can tell, just the frustration.

”He’s taking his time with them, in terms of speaking to them individually, collectively.

”You’re doing everything, you’re giving them everything that they need to win a game of football and they’re still not doing it. To me it’s a lack of respect.”

Later Ferguson added: ”They’re either thick as s—- or else there’s a lack of respect there.”

Derek Ferguson reveals bizarre nickname for Rangers team

Derek Ferguson has branded the Rangers team ‘the Weathermen’ because of their unpredictable nature.

The Rangers team stands accused of turning up for the big games whilst letting the club’s bread and butter matches pass them by.

”It’s the story of the season with that group of players,” said Ferguson. “When they feel like it, they turn up.

”They’ll probably turn up on Sunday. They’ve turned up in Europe. It’s probably the least excited I’ve been in a while for an Old Firm game.

”But you just don’t know what you’re getting with that group. That’s what I call them, they’re like the Weathermen, you don’t know what you’re going to get.”
