However, not long after the Gers were dumped out of Europa League qualifying by Progres Niederkorn, he was off to Ipswich Town.
After a stellar year there, he moved to Derby County for whom he has scored eight times this season.
“Playing in front of 50-55,000 week in, week out, going to lower league grounds and selling out the whole stadium, it was incredible”, Waghorn told
talkSPORT, as quoted by the Daily Record.
“It’s an experience I’ll never forget.”
“Obviously I had some good times with them (Rangers). I loved my time there. It brought me on loads as a player and as a person.”
“To play for a club like that was incredible.”

Should Rangers try to lure him back?

Waghorn has really brought his game up a level since moving back down to England. He was outstanding at Ipswich last year, recording 16 goals and 11 assists in the league alone.
This campaign, under Frank Lampard, his returns have been more modest. Yet, he’s delivered on several big occasions during cup runs.

There’s little doubt he would improve this Rangers squad if he came back. Additionally, even though he only left at the start of last season, the current playing crop at Ibrox is stronger than in his time.

However, while he couldn’t have been more effusive in his praise of the club, financial considerations might prove prohibitive.
His summer transfer cost the Rams a reported £5 million and with two years left on his contract after this one, it would take something very ambitious to shift him at this juncture.
