Defiant Rangers transfer stance proves increasing off-field stability

As Rangers reportedly turn down a multi-million-pound offer for winger Ryan Kent, it’s an ongoing reminder of the club’s improved off-field stability.

The Ibrox side are said to have turned down an offer worth a reported initial £10m from Premier League Leeds United as Steven Gerrard demands Marcelo Bielsa’s side get serious [Rangers].

It’s the second time in the transfer window that the Gers have turned down decent money for one of their stars with Rangers refusing to budge on their valuations.

This transfer window promises to be an increasingly difficult one for Steven Gerrard who hopes to keep the foundations of his side together and also reinforce it for the season ahead.

With the window not slamming shut until October there is still plenty of time for other clubs to test Rangers’ resolve with bids for their best players.

But one thing that is clear – be it Kent, Morelos, Barisic or Kamara – is that Rangers will not sell these players for below their market valuation.

This is a considerably stronger negotiating position than the club has found itself in for recent with Rangers scarcely making a profit on players let alone demanding considerable fees.

The Ibrox support understands that part of the club’s philosophy moving forward will be in providing a springboard for top talent to take the next step in their development and earn big money moves.

But Rangers fans can absolutely take solace in the notion that for the first time in a long time, the Gers will not be letting their best players leave on the cheap.
