When it comes to David Moyes and Rangers, it’s fair to say they haven’t been too close.
The former Everton manager has long been on Celtic’s managerial wishlist in the past. But, speaking to Simon Ferry’s OpenGoal podcast, the Scotsman has claimed he would manage either Celtic OR Rangers if offered.

Whenever Celtic go for a new manager, Moyes seems to be right up there at the top of the list. Never has he even be considered for the Rangers job given his Celtic background. It’s well acknowledged that Moyes grew up a Rangers fan, but he played for Celtic between 1980 and 1983.
But the former Manchester United head, who’s now without a job, says he would consider an offer from Ibrox in the future.
“Yeah, I would be interested (in managing either Old Firm side).
“I’ve been close to a few of them once or twice and thought about it a lot. I would be.
“It’s my home and I’d like to come back and do it sometime, but while the Premier League’s so strong, that would probably still remain my interest.”
Would fans be as keen?
Whilst Moyes definitely seems interested in a move to Ibrox, Rangers fans may not be so keen. It’s fair to say in recent times that it feels as though he’s failing everywhere he goes.
Manchester United, West Ham United, Sunderland, and Real Sociedad didn’t work out. Moyes is struggling to rebuild the reputation he earned so spectacularly at Everton all those years ago.
Added to that, if things go well at Rangers, Moyes won’t get a sniff. Steven Gerrard is only in year one of his Ibrox revolution. The Liverpool legend won’t be leaving Glasgow anytime soon.

The only possibility of this ever happening is after Gerrard feels his work is done in Glasgow. Should he leave for a big job down south, that could open a door for Moyes at Ibrox. The only problem is, his continuous love for the English Premier League could make his loyalty questionable.
Supporters may also feel that Rangers shouldn’t be playing the style that Moyes likes his teams to play. A defensive, direct game isn’t the kind of football Gers fans want to see at Ibrox.
Regardless, it’s interesting to hear such a long-term rival candidate verbally putting himself forward for the Rangers job one day in the future. The chances of it ever happening, however, are still extremely slim.
