David Healy has spoken to the Scottish Herald about the future of Kyle Lafferty.
Northern Ireland’s top all-time goalscorer and a former international teammate of Lafferty’s, believes a transfer would be best for all concerned.

Healy, who is currently Linfield manager, has seen what the frontman is capable of. Yet, with his compatriot down the pecking order at Ibrox, he thinks he’s used up all the chances he’s going to get.
“If you speak to Kyle he will probably say he hasn’t done enough when given the opportunity,” Healy told the Scottish Herald.

“Others will say he wasn’t given enough chances by Gerrard, but I think Kyle had enough chances at Rangers.
“I hope it works out for him if not at Rangers then somewhere he can settle down and get back to doing what Kyle is all about. High energy performances with goals thrown in too.”

Verdict

Steven Gerrard appears to be on the same wavelength as Healy. After all, Lafferty hasn’t featured in any of the club’s pre-season activities so far.
There was no place for him on the trip to Portugal, nor in extended squads to take on Oxford United or Marseille in friendlies.
With just six goals last season, Lafferty’s second stint at Ibrox has not gone to plan. Rangers need better in forward areas and at 31, the big striker should be making the most of the remaining years of his career.
There’s reportedly been interest from clubs in Cyprus [Scottish Sun] and Thailand [Daily Star], but nothing has come to fruition just yet. Here’s hoping he gets a move sooner rather than later, so the club can assess whether or not he needs to be replaced.
