David Edgar is pleased as Rangers’ shareholders issued an official announcement on Friday.

Things have been positive at Ibrox since the takeover of Andrew Cavenagh’s consortium and 49 Enterprises last May.

Everyone appears to be singing from the same hymn sheet, and there is harmony behind the scenes about major decisions, with the underperforming senior figures already being shown the door.

David Edgar thrilled with John Brown joining Club 1872 board

Club 1872 announced John Brown had joined their board, along with three other members.

The sixth-largest shareholders of the Gers have added a club legend to their board in order to help achieve their short and long-term goals.

They have promised to invest in new shares whenever the opportunity arises, taking their eventual stakeholding to 25 per cent, which is currently at five per cent.

There are also plans afoot to bring about important community improvements via the new Heritage Projects model.

Alan Fraser, Scott Carline and Iain McHolm are the other members to have joined the board along with Bomber.

Via X, Edgar wrote: “This is very good news. C1872 has a lot of work to do to regain fans’ trust but new blood of the quality of Bomber will help.”

How Club 1872 can rebuild their trust with the Rangers fans

It is imperative for Club 1872 to rebuild the trust among the supporters for the smooth running of the operations of all parties.

Announcing a new board with Bomber as a part of it would certainly be the right first step taken towards making that happen.

What Club 1872 could look to do is be radically transparent with their plans and regularly inform fans about their decisions and deliberations.

They have talked a lot about the Heritage Projects, so if they can start to deliver big wins on those, they will endear themselves to the supporters again.

Their plans of owning a 25 per cent stake in Rangers are surely bold, but they need to start taking steps towards making that happen and share reports of their progress.

It is imperative that the confrontational tone they have held in past meetings is eliminated, as everyone seems to be working towards the same end goal.
