David Edgar has not been pleased with the SPFL for their decision regarding the game between Rangers and Celtic.
Danny Rohl’s side are set to take on their arch rivals at Parkhead on Sunday, 10 May.
Celtic wanted to ban the Union Bears for the Old Firm clash due to the incidents that unfolded in the Scottish Cup at Ibrox, and now appear to have got their way.
Will Rangers sack Danny Rohl if they fail to win the league?
If he goes, who would be a good replacement for him?
David Edgar believes the entire incident was a waste of time for Rangers
Edgar, the Heart and Hand podcast host, did not see any merit in having this entire saga that involved both clubs issuing statements.
He points to the fact that after all of it, it will be the same number of tickets allocated and the same number of people having it.
It just seemed like a pointless ordeal, which should never have happened in the first place.

In his view, this points to “messing about” on the part of Celtic and the SPFL, given the entire handling of the situation.
Edgar wrote on X: “This whole palaver seems to be a hell of a lot of messing about by Celtic and the SPFL to end up with the same amount of tickets and the same people having them.
“What a waste of time and money it has been.”
Will Rangers re-sign Mikey Moore for the 2026/27 season?
His silence when asked about a return speaks volumes…
What was the SPFL’s reading into the situation?
The SPFL claimed that they regretted the situation in which both teams had failed to reach an agreement.
They mentioned the agreement of both teams to hand 5 per cent of the stadium capacity to the away fans and have stated that it will continue.
An SPFL spokesperson also provided an update about the incidents that took place following the penalty shootout in March.
The spokesperson said: “We note the decision of the independent Sub-Committee. We have been consulting with all clubs for months regarding the rules in this area and had achieved consensus that the current deadline of 14 days before a match for a referral to the SPFL Board is insufficient to allow a proper forensic analysis of the circumstances.
“Following discussion at the SPFL’s Rules & Regulations Working Group, we had intended to table a resolution at the June AGM to bring forward the deadline to 35 days prior to a fixture and will now take time to reflect on this decision.”
