Crocked Rangers star Danilo has issued an update to fans on Instagram regarding the knee injury he sustained earlier this month.

The Brazilian striker was sadly ruled out of action until well after the winter break and could face as much as four months nursing his setback.

Danilo has had a stop-start beginning to his Rangers career after making a money-spinning £6m move from Feyenoord in the summer. He managed two goals in his first five Premiership games but suffered a nasty facial injury in a win over St Johnstone in September.

That kept him out for six games before returning to action with a face mask to protect his tender cheekbone. But Danilo then contributed five assists and three goals as he began to show why Michael Beale shelled out millions to purchase him.

Amid Cyriel Dessers’ early struggles and Kemar Roofe’s unreliability in regards to keeping fit, Danilo looked set for a plenty of starting chances. But his decent progress was brought to a shuddering halt by his current knee injury, which he picked up against Hearts at Tynecastle.

Danilo unfortunately had to undergo surgery but things appear to be going well in terms of the Brazilian’s recovery.

Posting to Instagram on Saturday, Danilo shared a short clip of himself slowly raising and then lowering his leg multiple times. He captioned it by writing: “Day by day getting better.”

It’s good to hear his rehab is going as planned but it doesn’t help the fact Rangers are going to be really short of striking options heading into a very busy festive schedule.

Dessers is our only main pick up front at the moment. And even at that, the Nigerian’s encouraging form of late could earn him a call-up for his country at the African Cup of Nations.

That would be disastrous for Philippe Clement, who signalled his intention recently to sign a forward in the January transfer window. We will definitely need it.
