Craig Moore has sent a warning to Rangers over “stop-gap” investment.

The club legend is worried about his old side following the release of Rangers’ financials for the year back in late October.

Gers posted a loss of £17million from their accounts in what showed a dramatic cash-flow issue.

And it had interim chairman John Gilligan admitting a “challenging period” for the club who had early season problems with the renovation of the Copland Road stand work being significantly delayed.

Now Moore has floated the suggestion of having new ownership come into Ibrox for the benefit of the future and to ensure the long-term smooth running of the football club.

Gilligan has already been open about welcoming potential new investors while the current board members have already dipped into their pockets.

But Oz hopes the finances being discussed won’t simply be to get Philippe Clement and his squad through the January transfer window or there is always a risk of problems down the line.

The former defender described it as a “serious matter” that must be addressed sooner rather than later.

And he feels the current ownership group have perhaps been “blinded” by the weekly battle to put points on the board and build the squad to compete at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Perhaps to the detriment of the future.

Speaking on GO Radio, the Australian was honest with his assessment.

Rangers posted losses of £17million for 2024 and Moore has warned of ‘stop-gap’ funding

He posed the question: “Is investment just going to be a stop-gap to do something in January, what I would like to see – I don’t know who is supportive of this in terms of the fans, or what the feelings of the fans is towards this – but I think it needs new ownership to really change things and put new infrastructure in place to go and attack it in a serious manner.

“It’s almost as if when you are on top, you are being hunted. Rangers are chasing but you can be blinded by that day to day battle.

“This is now a serious matter if you don’t get somebody that has that vision of what Rangers will look like in 15 or 20 years. This needs serious investment – not a window.”
