Rangers’ Scottish Cup Fourth Round tie away at Cowdenbeath, has been postponed due to a frozen pitch.
The news emerged shortly after a 16:30 inspection at Central Park.
The match was a 4300 ticket sell-out.
Unfortunately, this isn’t a great surprise.
Unlike at Ibrox, there’s no under-soil heating at Cowdenbeath’s stadium. Therefore, volunteers were called into action yesterday, covering the pitch in an attempt to keep the sub-zero temperatures at bay.

However, ultimately, the home club’s best efforts were in vain.
The game will now take place on Wednesday 30th January.
As a result, Sunday’s friendly match with Alfredo Morelos’ old club, HJK Helsinki, suddenly takes on more importance.

It’s now the only live match practice the Gers will have, before resuming Scottish Premiership action away at Kilmarnock, next Wednesday night.

Tonight was a perfect occasion for Steven Gerrard to bed his January additions into the team.

I
f the Gers are to implement a new formation after all, the game against the Finnish champions will be the only available test run.
A postponement like this would have been most welcome for the players, before the winter break.
But, tonight, it’ll be met with disappointment from players and fans alike.
